Yo Man Nice Drake Shit But Crooked Royce Buckshot Arent On His Level Dey Not Nice Boy If U Want Drake 2 Rap Reach Out 2 Him So U Can Be A Fan
ReplyDeleteYou said it yourself, "He can put a song together well." That is the key to music. At the end of the day, like it or not, Hip Hop is MUSIC and people want to hear something they can sing along to. Most people buying albums and actually supporting the artists (NOT BOOTLEGGING) are not necessarily DIE HARD "lyrical" hip hop fans. A lot of females actually BUY albums and they could care less if you spit deep and lyrical, they want LOVE, sing along melodies and swagga, that's it!
ReplyDeleteEVERY and I mean EVERY style of music is generally surface material, meaning lyrics really don't matter. Again, i'll reiterate, hip hop is MUSIC. Let's think about all genres, rock, pop, dance, trance, country and blues, most of the hits are simple and catchy. Think about Queens "We Will Rock You," or KC and the Sunshine Band's "That's the Way," "Shake, Shake, Shake" and "Get Down Tonight." All these songs were SUPER SIMPLE but FUN and HUGE HITS! No one wants to hear some down in the dump song, or CrAzY deep lyrical track ALL the time.
I do agree that the amount of swaggalicious, get money, get chicks, club and thug it out music being played is out of control. There should be a nice medium where all styles of hip hop can be in circulation on radio stations around the country. I feel there is room for both Drake and Joell Ortiz on the radio, or room for both Lil Wayne and Jay Elec. You have to look at it from the perspective of film. There are Comedies, Thrillers, Action, Suspense, Horror and Dramas, all which are movies, yet all are different styles. No one wants to watch Dramas ALL THE TIME! or Horror movies ALL THE TIME! We all go through mood swings and we all need different types of movies and music to help us through the day. The world is big enough for all of us.
That's more than a comment but that's my take. Peace.
