3 Emcee's you might not know

I shouldn't even be putting Term up here because he's been in the game so long. I've said this a million times before, Term is one of the most underrated emcee's ever. He has numerous mixtape's that have been decent. He got the chance to work with producers such as Dj Premier and Statik Selektah. Maybe he hasn't blown commercially because of his image? Maybe because he is just nice? Either way the game played itself on this one. Term and Statik Selektah make a great tag team and you can catch them on the mixtape circuit or on the Boston airwaves. Click on the video below to see what i mean. Also check out the album 1982 by Term and Statik Selektah.

We got my man Sav killz from Bk who now is grinding harder than anyone in the streets. I really respect this guys hustle and i support him all the way. This raw emcee has had a tough time getting in the eye of the public eye but he can care less. We had a little sit down and he taught me a lot about the politics of the radio and hip hop itself. He told me that you don't need the radio or major outlets to promote your stuff or for you to be respected and heard by the real people. And that's why i keep my website going. You can find Sav in the streets of New York selling his album. Sav has a couple of dope videos on youtube and nice freestyles. Support real hip hop and purchase his music on itunes. Also catch my interview with him on my youtube page. Click the video below to see what i mean.

For all you Nicki Minaj lovers out there who think she is nice well think twice. Born in Cape Town, South Africa Jean Grae is one hell of a lyricist and she can't be denied by no one. Jean's lack of label support has limited her shine but isn't that what happens to every nice emcee? She has made an appearances on songs with Joell Ortiz, Jay Electronica, Mos Def, Brother Ali, and Talib Kweli. Jean Grae is another underrated emcee who gets overlooked because she is a female and no marketable, which none of that should matter.

Got a chance to see Cyhi at high line ballroom before he blew up. Not going to lie but he got some boo's on the way out. Got the video of him performing "ring bellz' at high line. Might put that up one day. Also got a chance to meet Tony Touch at one of the clubs i promote for. Tony wants me to come though the studio as well.

NappyHeadedBros Interview

Your secret admirer

                Dear Hip Hop,
I don't want to sound like a stalker but i have been following  you since i was a young teen. You might not notice me but i am always around. I noticed that you chase the bling and the ego's that surround you. I'm not the one to judge but I'm starting to criticize every single one of the people you screw around with. I really want to know what makes them so much better then the rest of us? Is it because they are simple to deal with? I know, maybe it's because they talk about everything people want to hear. Every morning i wake up with the same intense feeling of being left out and its making me just want to quit. Every night before i go to sleep i pray for the day you take me in with open hands. I want you to notice my talents and originality by taking the time out and really listening. I don't want to get in the way of anybody else i just want you to see. My father once told me that a few years ago you were into men like me and it gave me a pinch of hope. My father said it used to be called the "golden era". I don't know if we can take it any longer. I think this letter has spoken lets just hope you get it in time.

                  P.S
We are going to keep fighting until something gives!

Four HRSMN will Slaughter with the Slaughter

The breaking news had my legs shaking so i just had to right this article. Do you remember the Four Hrsmn? The "if" group that could have been legendary if everything would have went according to plan. Lets not talk about what they should have done because that's beating a dead horse. The Four Hrsmn consist of Canibus, Rass Kass, Kurupt, and Killah priest. Those are four dudes that can really just out rap the next dude. They all have been through label woes similar to what Slaughterhouse members went through. I think with the right concept and the dopest production you can find a Four Hrsmn album would be a classic. A recent video reveals a collaboration between the two groups and its going to be nuts! You got 8 emcee's that put lyrics ahead of everything so lets see what that can amount to. Until then sit back and pop in that Slaughterhouse album. "Until then hip hop is gone".  dd

A letter from MrSplaTtv

Im all about that real hip hop. My definition of real hip hop is lyrics and substance. Thats exactly what my site brings to the table. When you visit my site I want you guys to experience what the majority can't. I grind everyday and i am working toward having a movement nobody can stop. I give a thanks to everybody who supports this site.I give a shout out to Joell Ortiz, Sav Killz, Learnz, Trademark Da Skydiver, and all the hip hop fans i've interviewed. Hip hop is "gone" not dead so lets try to bring it back!

5 reasons why Slaughterhouse wont make the mainstream eye

There have been many rap groups in hip hop's lifetime that have and haven't seen the spotlight. Groups like Wu-tang who changed the face of hip hop with their classic albums, the Roots who had a major impact on the music industry with their mix of jazz and rap, and A Tribe Called Quest one of the greatest of all time. Then we have a mainstream group like Young Money who capitalized on Lil Wayne's success and took the radio by storm. Let's not forget about the forgotten four Hrsmn who could have been the greatest lyrical group ever if they have gotten a chance. With that said we have the supergroup Slaughterhouse which consist of four emcee's who all have had their label and commercial woes. We got Joe Budden who was on the cusp of mainstream dominace with "hit" pump it up, then he got into label problems with Def Jam then it went all sour.We got Crooked I who was stuck with Death Row and never saw the spotlight. He has always been known as a lyrical monster in the West. Then we got Royce Da 5'9 who was Eminem's sidekick for a few years in Detroit before getting into a beef with Em and then going downfall from their. Their fourth member is more of a new face to hip hop and his name is Joell Ortiz. An emcee who has been rappin for quite a while before getting his chance on Dr. Dre's Aftermath label. After asking for a realese because of no support and he went on his own grind. Now that i broke the group down lets go on to the reasons why Slaughterhouse wont ever catch the eye of the majority, not that it matters.
1. Lack of label support and no support from radio stations.
2. Golden era of hip hop is gone. Nobody wants to hear lyrics. Hip hop has been watered down to the fullest so when people hear what used to be they turn the other cheek.
3. There's no balance in hip hop what so ever causing the audience to dislike whats not heard.
4 Their music isn't kid friendly. Slaughterhouse is all lyrics and hard core substance which take paitients to really understand what there emcee's are saying.
5Hip hop has just become to pop for hard core rappers to survive in. The executives upstairs know this and they dont want no part of it. Hip hop now is just a money making thing, not the art itself.

Joell Ortiz remakes some of hip hop's classics.

Joell Ortiz remakes the classic 'Got my mind made up" originally made by Tupac.

Joell Ortiz remakes Big L's classic ebonics. Joell adds some latin flavor with his amazing flow. I also think he even did it better. Who cares to argue?

"Check the Rhime" CLASSIC!!!!

 Lets take it back people.

Canibus " Golden Terra of Rap"

This is Canibus at his finest. Legendary beat with hard lyrics by the man who always kept it real. His most recent album C of Tranquility has Canibus going in on subpar production. The album features hard beats and amazing punch lines. To be honest Canibus can be a little off with his topics and it only makes me wonder, what the hell is he talking about.

"Going Back" That 1982 heat people!

Sing Like Bilal

Classic Joell Ortiz on a Dj Premier beat.

Take It To The Top

Im really feeling the whole video and tempo of this Statik Selektah song. He is one of the great hip hop producers we have left in the game. Song features vets Cassidy along with Saigon and termanology. Three emcees who had their own movements that died down somewhat. Enjoy people cause "until then hip hop is gone".

Battle Cry Joell Ortiz Official Video 2010

Hip hop needs to really recognize true talent and praise this dude. Real hip hop has just been displayed in the video and his lyrics are just off the wall. Joell Ortiz with his new video showing his lyrical skills on this Just Blaze beat with no hook, "Until then hip hop is gone".

Termanology "So Amazing"

Termanology is one of the most underrated emcee's ever. To bad he never caught the eyes of the people.

Exhibit A / B / C - Jay Electronica ft. Mos Def

One of the best emcee's alive named Jay Electronica. Now signed to Roc Nation is about to be put to the test. Lets hope he still puts out real fire like this. This is truly amazing music made by yours truly. Jay stay true to us real hip hop fans and keep this up. "Until then hip hop is gone".

The White Shadow Of Norway-Underground (KRS-One, Ras Kass, Joell Ortiz)

This has that real 95 hip hop feel that has totally been forgotten. The teacher KRS-One, Ras Kass, and Joell Ortiz go really dope on the classic record.

Jay Electronica to Roc Nation

Hip hop we have a very major emcee on the move to one of hip hop's biggest labels. Jay Electronica is one of the best emcee's in the game and this move can change everything. The thing that worries me is that there are going to be high expectations. Jay Electronica is going have to sell or this is going to be a big fail. This can become a big issue because his music isn't for the mainstream community. His subject matter is really a one way street and that is a problem in the mainstream world. Jay Electronica can spit for days and i personally think he can make some good music but, sell i doubt it. I don't want him to sellout because the label demands a hit record or some sound scan numbers. Look what happened to Joe Budden, "pause". "Until then hip hop is gone".

Joell Ortiz at the famous S.o.b's. Visit my youtube to see other videos and more footage from the show.

Joell Ortiz at S.o.b's

November 9th was the day Joell Ortiz came back from his major tour and he really brang the flavor of real hip hop back to New York. Joell's 300 plus fans stormed the famous S.o.b's and they were louder than ever. Hot 97 was in the building real heavy along side the heavy hitters. Peter Rosenberg, Dj Enuff, and Cipha sounds showed love for Joell and the legendary Dj Premier got on stage when Joell was performing his "sing like bilal" single. Joell brang out the Brownsville emcee Sean Price and he tore up the stage. The "yaowa" army was also in the building chanting his popular phrase over and over again. I couldn't help but scream "yaowa" a couple of times. Joell also showed the packed S.o.b's a couple of songs off his free agent album and people sang them word for word. You really got to see how loyal these fans were as they followed Joell's every move. Hip hop was definitly in the house and i really felt good to be apart of it. Joell showed that with little mainstream help and lack of label support he can still fill and pull off one of the most amazing shows of all time. Stay tuned for his free agent album comming up and the slaughterhouse movement expanding. "Until then hip hop is gone".

This is what i bump in my head phones (MrSplaTtv's ipod)

This isn't a list of the greatest emcees of all time. This is just who i am bumping in my ipod. If i left certain emcees out doesn't mean they aren't nice or i don't like them, it just means i haven't had time to put their music in my i pod. Note that i left out a couple of greats.
1. Big Pun- Do i really have to say much?

2. Biggie Smalls- Maybe top 5 emcees of all time. But who am i to say that?

3. Big L- I remember the first time i heard one of his songs, i think it was ebonics.

4. Buckshot- Gosh lets all just play some boot camp click

5. Busta Rhymes- Im talking about that old Busta. "Whats the scenario", is one of my favorite songs of all time.

6. Canibus- One of the greatest in your face emcees ever. He never sold out and he was a lyrical monster.

7. Capone-N_Noreaga- Both war reports were amazing albums, I really loved number 2 though.

8. Chris webby- Nice little talent for a white boy who isn't Em. Can spit with the best of them.

9. Common- This dude can really grab a listener and i love his craft. Has his own style and voice.

10. Crooked I- Best west coast emcee since Pac in my eyes. That tells you a lot huh?

11. Dead Prez- "White boy at the wrong place at the right time" Hell yeah!

12. Eminem- Top 10 emcees of all time. I like the old Em better.

13. Homeboy Sandman- Had the pleasure to interview this great emcee. Has his own style, kinda odd though. Breath of fresh air if you ask me.

14. Immortal Technique- One of the greatest emcees of all time although you have to be in the mood.

15. J Cole- Nice flow and can make a song. I think he is still figuring out what he wants to be.

16. Jay Electronica- I think hes one of the best emcees right now. He really sounds like Nas.

17. Joell Ortiz- The best emcee since 2000, who dares to argue?

18. Kayne West- I think college dropout was his best work. Cant really deny his talents, dude is fucking nice

19. Lupe Fiasco- I think i can do 10 Lupe songs in a row.

20. Mos Def- Nasty flow and his vocals are sweet to your ears. Need more of his shit though

21. Nas- Top 10 emcees of all time. Listen to Illmatic if you haven't yet.

22. The Roots- I love the Roots.

23. Black Thought- I just think he needed his own section. Dude is sick with it.

 24. Royce Da 5'9- This man can spit. "Slaughterhouse"

25. Jean Grae- The best female emcee right now.

26. Snoop Dog- I really like his music real talk. I was bumping Gin and juice when i was writing this.

27. Tech N9ne- Has his own flavor and movement. Strange music is really strange.

28. Joe Budden-I am currently only listening to Mood muzik 4.

29. A Tribe Called Quest- They are on my 24 hour playlist.

30. Slaughterhouse- Best rap group alive!

Joe Budden

When people bring up Joe Budden's name most people would role their eyes and brush away the thought. But the loyal fans out their who stood by his side since day one can tell you that he is one of the most lyrical emcee's of all time. All the beefs, label woes, and misconceptions has made Joe Budden the artist that he is. He started with the smash single "pump it up" and that created major buzz for him at the time. His first album didn't get any good reviews and he got released from his label and his mainstream buzz went down the drain. He started the very popular mix tape series "Mood Muzik" and that opened the door for his fans to enter the world of Joe Budden. With his dark, complex lyrics he is often one amazing emcee and there is no way you can deny his talent. To be honest he never made a decent album worth buying and it kills me because he had great mix tapes. He is apart of the well known "super group" Slaughterhouse and that movement has helped him drastically. The greatest thing about the slaughterhouse movement is that he has the luxury of creating new fans because of the 3 other emcees. I remember going to see Joe at BB kings and his fans were so loyal and supportive of his music. There were hundreds of fans outside waiting for Joe to arrive and it was a great scene. Joe ripped the packed house bringing out his slaughterhouse bandmates. He performed his new mix tape Mood Muzik 4 and his fans new every single word. One thing about Joe is that he is very humble but he is also very confident so he won't turned down a challenge. Joe Budden's flow, delivery, and lyrics makes his better than most emcee's out there. I just think his image isn't the greatest out there so many people would turn there heads to his music but give him a chance and you will be happy you read this article. "Until then hip hop is gone".

Special guest writer.. Article written by: Denzell Washington

For about the past 3 years i've realized something has been off with the world. Music!!! To be more specific hip hop. One of New York's most infamous genres of music. The hip hop/r&b in this present day isn’t what it used to be. More of what we hear now a days are tunes from rapper's that aren’t even from the hood. For the years past artists have gathered from all over in the midst of New York making her their domain. But were are the New York soldiers? What about the vibes from the big apple. The other day I had a convo with my boy mrsplattv and he starting getting into how there are people like us who feel that hip hop isn't what it used to be. Either these are people that don’t voice their opinions or these are people who do and are powerless to change anything. Well I’ve got to say its time something was done about that. Even though some of these non New Yorkers make some good beats, it isn't what we wanna hear. I haven’t heard a hit from the 90's since about 2006, if even that. What are our so called music labels doing to keep the past alive. Nothing! Redman and Methodman are still signed to Def Jams Records and yet the labels don’t push them at all. Why is that? Who knows, but one thing is for sure and that’s the fact that no one makes real music any more thanks to all these southerners or where ever the hell these artists come from. But whether hip hop dies today tomorrow or holds on by a thread I believe theres always a chance to bring the past pack to glory.

New York has been forgotten (the hip hop coma)

I hate to say it but New York has really fell of the map. The New York hip hop scene is on its last leg and its about to really fall. Do we even hear that New york hip hop on the airwaves anymore? I honestly can't remember the last time i heard a Biggie joint on the radio. There is no tribute being shown to any of our greats and it is really sad. What the hell is Puffy doing to keep Big alive, and please tell me what fat Joe did for Pun the last 8 years. The New York playlist has been over ran by the south and please don't get me started with b.e.t. Im going to give a big shout out to birthplace magazine for trying to keep New York hip hop alive. Thew few venues we have left like S.o.b's and high line ballroom. The select few artist like Joell ortiz and Homeboy Sandman who keep it real and don't sellout. Its safe to say that we are a lost memory in hip hop and i don't think its going to get any better with the arrival of the canadian megastar Drake and the south. Im not hating on them because i do listen to some of Drakes old stuff but people in this generation aren't open to the last of the real hip hop we have left in new york. Our art is being decapitated by the commercial industry and all we have left to show for it is nothing. I know there are people out there that feel like me, all i need is some support to help this hip hop coma we are in. "Until then hip hop is gone"

The great debate (part 2)

Part two of the debate people...real talk about this hip hop shit.

The great debate (part one)

Mrsplattv with a bunch of hip hop fans speaking their minds. The topics ranging from Nas to Drake and Method Man being crunk LoL! Crazy stuff being said on camera and the debate gets heated. This is that real hip hop mrsplattv is trying to bring back. This is the only place where voices of people get heard. Comment and let me know what ya think. Real hip hop people!!!

BET Top 10 Rappers of the 21st Century List (complete trash!)

1. Eminem
2. Lil' Wayne
3. Kanye West
4. 50 Cent
5. T.I.
6. Ludacris
7. Drake
8. Young Jeezy
9. Jadakiss
10. Rick Ross
Im sitting at home watching True Blood and my boy text me and tells me to check out bet. I see that there was a debate on the top ten rappers of the decade and i was excited to see who they was going to put. This fucking list was complete crap and i couldn't help but scream and shout. They put Lil Wayne and all these bullshit industry puppets. They were going on fame, record sales, and a bunch of other crap. That shit made me laugh and whoever agrees with what those dudes said yesterday step up and let me know. I mean this was a disgrace to hip hop in every way. They didn't respect the art or the lyricism of hip hop in anyway and i feel like this really shut the door for hip hop to make any type of come back. These dudes put Rick Ross up there with Eminem. "Wtf"? I think if a real list were to be made every one but Eminem would be kicked off no disrespect to Jadakiss. Lets go by god dam substance and lyrical ability. lets go bar for bar as well as flow and topic selection. To be really honest i should have just bit my tongue about this whole thing but i love this shit to much. I really want there to be a pause in hip hop and god to come down and evaluate all the bum ass rappers. Lets burn that shitty ass list and lets start fresh. "Until then hip hop is gone".

Mos Def - Auditorium (Feat. Slick Rick)

This is that lyricism that need to be heard. This is that Mos def people, off his album Estatic.

My man Sav Killz in Fatz Beats

Sav Killz performs at fat beats. We don't really see real hip hop like this anymore. The fat beats movement just died so hip hop just lost a part of its roots. There are a few emcees out there who do shows and stay true to their fans and Sav killz is one of them... "shout out to my boy Sav"!

LETS KEEP CANIBUS ALIVE PEOPLE!

Lets keep Canibus alive!! He is one of the most gritty emcees of all time. Lets pay tribute.

Classic Black Thought and Pun...

What did i do? It's your fault

Never have i been so lost when it came to music. I do understand this hip hop stuff isn't doing anything for me but i can't stop thinking of how bad it is. Well every morning i wake up to it and i might brush my teeth to it as well. Im not talking about that fake commercial shit or that gay industry non sence. Im talking about that gritty underground hip hop. That shit where lyrics matter. That stuff that makes you want to kick your parents out the house and bring your boys over and blast that mean 32. I don't care what you say but ill take a mean 32 over a fucking catchy beat any day. But just like my boy said you people don't want to hear it. Don't get it twisted that party music is cool but there is to much of that going on. These so called artist are aiming their music at a certain crowd and it's getting old. I swear to god the radio sucks. I know there's more people like me out there who love that real shit. All im trying to do is wake people up. Hip hop is gone and all you people are doing is keeping it that way. Wake the fuck up! Until then "hiphopisgone".

"The Art Of The Sellout"

Now what ever happened to self respect and having morals as a human in this country? I mean money rules the world in every way but is losing your dignity worth a couple million bucks? Im talking about artist in the hip hop game who sellout and lose total control on what type of music they chose to do. Im not going to say any names because then people who read this would just say Im hating. Now what happens when a record label comes up to that artist and tells him that they will give him two million dollars as long as he gives them all the rights to his music. That meaning they can market him anyway they want even if that includes putting a dildo in his mouth as an album cover. I do understand that money can change the way you live but i suppose it would be harder to live with yourself after the fact. Lets put it like this, would you go on national tv and tell the whole world that you hate your race for ten million dollars? 90% of these "rappers" in the game right now are "sellouts" and that is the main reason they are getting push from their major labels. For those rappers that didn't sellout on themselves are struggling to make a living in the industry because they wont be let in. People wont give them the time of day and its sad because those are the rappers that can give you the most. Lets hope things start to change and the rappers that didn't sellout stay the same and make the music for the greater good and not for the money, cars, and hoes. Until then hip hop is gone.

Why isn't anything pure anymore?

Now what really gets me angry is when you go to the club and the dj isn't even scratching. The music he is playing is pre recorded. Let me be real honest here, everything they play in the clubs these days is scripted. Its a shame because hip hop started with the dj and the beat box. Everything is so robotic and planned out. When is the last time you seen a emcee do a video with a dj scratching the beat and the emcee tearing it apart. The radio station dj's don't even have control over what they play and that's the saddest part because they control 90% of what happens in hip hop. The dj's are the bridge to success and that would make or break a rappers career unless its Tech N9ne. Thats just my opinion and even tho i don't listen to the radio at all the radio is the ear of the people. Can you name commercial artist that are original? Can you name a hit song that was lyrical? Name a rapper that uses his own slang and wordplay. Ok im waiting. All you have to have is a dance concept in your lyrics and a catchy beat and there goes a record deal. Now let me see that lyrical cat that can spit for days get that record deal that would save his life and put food on the table. Thats why you see so many artist selling out these days because they chase the money and forget about where they came from. For the artist that keep it real and do it for the people and not for the executives i have great respect for you guys. Soon people will start to wake up and really start to think about what needs to be done. "Until then Hip Hop is gone"

MY MESSAGE

To whoever is reading this thanks for visiting what i love the most and that's the topic of hip hop. Now i spend a lot of my time reading about hip hop and studying the art of it. I have a serious passion for this art of music and i hate to say that what i used to love isn't the same in 2010. I mean i stress about this everyday and it doesn't seem to change anything. It hurts because what i wake up to is hip hop and i still have to pop in old cd's of artist that are dead or aren't really making the same music they made before. Now for the artist that i respect come in a handful and i certainly support those who make the real music and are lyrically insane. I will support hip hop till the day i die and even if i lose my ears ill still buy that album just so i can say look at that new shit!

LEARNZ ALBUM REVIEW (ONE LEARNZ)

ONE
       LEARNZ

     A L B U M

Here is the full written review of the One Learnz album. Im going to get this out the way i know this dude and i fucks with him because of his humble personality and he is a stand up person. This One Learnz album is a 16 track cd that is full of lyricism and dope beats that capture you right away. Im not going to beat around the bush so let me just say there is a couple of boring ass beats and corny hooks. It doesn't take away from the enjoyment but it can get annoying because the album could be going so good then the next track pops up and your finger is on the god damm skip button. The other thing that really bugged me was him talking about which rappers he "fucks with", nobody cares dude i want to hear you spit about shit that matters. Now for the shit that i liked. First of all for the budget that he has the production was top notch. His beats were fire and the beats all complemented his flow and delivery. My head was moving throughout the whole album and he carried them all. His story telling was showcased on the song "are you satisfied". He told a story about a female who was depressed because of her rich fucked up childhood. His flow was perfect for the bass drivin beat and the hook was perfect. That song is a fucking hit if only they pushed this guy that song would be like a club anthem. The lyrics were there on this album and let me tell you learnz lyrically is better than alot of cats. Learnz has lyrics for days and his song writing ability is on another planet. "Yo Learnz yo should ghost write"! Now the most lyrical track was track 14 "its just me" and the hook was hot. Don't get me wrong the album could of used some polishing up but like i said for the budget he has this is top notch. Just imagine if this dude had Dre or Premier? My favorite track on the album was track 7 "nutrition facts" because of the beat and the concept. Im telling you this dude is one of the nicest on the underground scene and all he needs is some airplay and to be put out there. Overall the album is a good one but not a classic but it could have been if he would have shortened it by 6 songs. Good album learnz keep doing you and push yourself and keep putting out new shit. Out of 10 this album gets a 7.3 out of 10. I learned something after playing this album. "One Learnz"
